We are seeking views on the proposed changes to bus routes 67 and 149 to simplify the network and better match services to passenger demand in north and central London

We’re proposing changes to bus routes 67 and 149. Use the following buttons to find out more about the proposals, how they may impact you, and how you can have your say.

You have until Sunday 20 September 2026 to give us your feedback.

Proposal

Route 149 bus

We are proposing to change the routeing of bus route 149 and to withdraw route 67.

The northern terminus of route 149 would change from Edmonton Green to Wood Green. It would still terminate as it does now at London Bridge at its southern end.

If the changes were to be introduced, subject to the outcome of consultation, the frequency of route 149 would also change.

On bus route 149 (Wood Green - London Bridge), we would:

  • Decrease the weekday peak frequencies from a bus every seven minutes to a bus every eight minutes

  • This would represent a frequency increase on the section currently covered by route 67 (Wood Green to Stamford Hill) and a frequency decrease for the section between Stamford Hill and London Bridge

Frequency changes are not within the scope of consultation. They form part of our continual review of the bus network which helps ensure services operate more efficiently with the right level of service provided.

Below is a map showing the proposals for routes 67 and 149. The map also shows route 243 and revised route 279 which would not change but would retain connections currently provided by route 149.

Route 149 proposed restructure

Current Route: Operates between Edmonton Green and London Bridge

Proposed Route: Re-structured to run between Wood Green and London Bridge on the current 67 routeing between Wood Green and Stamford Hill and on the existing 149 routeing between Stamford Hill and London Bridge.

This would introduce new direct links on route 149 between Wood Green and London Bridge, providing new direct access between areas in Haringey, such as West Green Road and St. Ann’s Road and areas in Hackney and the City of London, such as Hoxton, Shoreditch, Bishopsgate and Liverpool Street Station. It would also reduce duplication with other services on Tottenham High Road and Fore Street.

Passengers who currently travel on route 149 may lose direct links to some destinations. For example, people who travel between Edmonton Green and London Bridge would need to change between buses in future.

Routes 243 (Wood Green - Waterloo) and 279 (Waltham Cross - Stamford Hill) would not change as part of these proposals and would retain existing route 149 connections between Bruce Grove and Shoreditch (on route 243) and between Edmonton Green and Stamford Hill (on route 279).

The night service on route 149 would not change as part of these proposals and would continue to run between Edmonton Green and London Bridge on all nights of the week. It would be re-numbered as route N149.

Route 67 proposed withdrawal

Current Route: Operates between Wood Green and Dalston Junction

Proposal: Withdraw the route entirely.

Route 67 would be withdrawn and replaced with route 149. The new routeing of the 149 would retain all connections currently provided by route 67 between Wood Green and Dalston Junction with the exception of Stop N in Dalston Junction Bus Station. Passengers would be able to use Stop C on Kingsland Road instead.

The new routeing of the 149 would provide new direct links between areas such as Wood Green and St Ann’s Road and locations such as Hoxton, Shoreditch, Liverpool Street Station and London Bridge.

The map below shows the proposed changes.
