How our proposals may change your journey

CLOSED: This discussion has concluded.

As part of this proposal:

  • Picture of a bus stop flag at North Greenwich bus stationThe west side of the Greenwich peninsula would receive a two-way bus route for the first time. The 188 provides connections between North Greenwich bus station and Tottenham Court Road 24 hours a day with frequencies of up to every 10 minutes
  • Millennium Way would no longer be served by route 188. This means passengers using stops MT and MW would be most impacted
  • Passengers using the 188 for access to the St Mary Magdalene School sites could use alternative bus routes 129 and 488. This may require a change of bus e.g. on Blackwall Lane or North Greenwich bus station. Passengers could transfer between bus journeys at no extra cost with the Hopper fare if used within one hour. Concessionary card holders can travel for free.

Our Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA) identifies in more detail:

  • The affects these proposals could have on people
  • How we propose to minimise any negative impacts

After we’ve considered all comments, the EqIA will be reviewed and updated.

We use the EqIA to help us decide if, and how, we should proceed with these proposals.

Buses in London

Buses play a crucial role in making London a more prosperous city, connecting Londoners to their work, education, families, friends, shopping, and leisure. It’s a sustainable alternative to cars, for journeys that can’t be walked or cycled.

The bus is already one of our most affordable, accessible and inclusive forms of transport.

All our buses are wheelchair accessible, fitted with ramps, and can be lowered to pavement level to make it easier for older or disabled passengers to board. Nearly 95% of our bus stops are accessible.

We continuously review and adapt the network to reflect changing customer needs, so buses are where our customers need them most.

The Mayor of London is committed to expanding outer London’s bus network, to strengthen alternatives to private cars and maximise the benefits of the Ultra Low Emission Zone.

Our Bus action plan is about increasing the number of bus journeys by making bus travel better, faster and greener.

We continue to grow our fleet of zero-emission buses, with over 1,000 so far. The whole fleet will be converted by 2034. Other projects include 12% more countdown signs at bus stops in every London borough.is about increasing the number of bus journeys by making bus travel better, faster and greener.
