AI Public Disclosure Statement

To support our commitment to high‑quality, transparent and efficient consultation analysis, we are beginning to explore the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

Your data, including any personal data you provide, may be analysed and summarised using technology such as AI. Before any AI tool is used, your name and contact details are removed. The AI will only see anonymised free‑text responses, and any information that could identify you is removed through a built‑in data‑cleaning process.

From March 2026, your anonymised data may also be used as part of controlled trials to test and develop AI‑assisted thematic analysis. These trials will help us understand whether AI tools can support our analysts to deliver high‑quality outputs more efficiently and consistently.

 Any use of AI during this period will be subject to strict safeguards:

 Only anonymised responses are processed by AI - personal identifiable information (PII) is removed before analysis begins.

  • AI models are hosted in secure systems under our control or within isolated tenant environments. Your data will not be shared or moved outside of these protected systems.
  • Your raw data cannot be accessed by the supplier’s staff unless TfL gives explicit permission for a specific, necessary purpose.
  • Data is not stored in logs or caches beyond what is needed for the analysis, and TfL can request deletion of data at any time in line with our retention policies.
  • All AI outputs will continue to sit alongside our human analysis, and we will not replace human judgement until we are confident that accuracy, security and ethical safeguards are fully met.
  • We retain ownership of all data and all outputs, and AI tools are used only to classify themes based on categories defined by our analysts — they do not generate new insights or topics independently.

We will continue to review the outcomes of these trials. If we decide to adopt an AI solution permanently, we will update this statement and provide further information about how the technology will be used and how your data will be safeguarded.
