TfL plans to begin constructing the scheme in spring 2025. The works will take approximately two years to complete. These timescales are usual for a scheme of this scale.

A modern tunnel combined with a user charge and improved cross-river public transport will improve the reliability and resilience of the wider road network. Work is currently progressing on the tunnel, and it is expected to open in 2025.
