Overview

We are making some changes to bus route 485. In 2018, we consulted on changes to the service which would provide the following:

  • Reroute the 485 to run via Putney High Street and Upper Richmond Road instead of via Putney Bridge Road and extend to Wandsworth Riverside Quarter

To enable these changes to the route, buses would be required to make the right hand turn from Upper Richmond Road onto Putney High Street. The current junction layout does not allow buses to do this safely due to concerns around junction capacity. After a period of discussion with Wandsworth council

After a period of discussion with Wandsworth council, an engineering solution cannot been found at this point.

Given that the right turn can no longer be provided the scheme has been re-evaluated and we have decided the following changes will be made:

  • We will retain the route on its current termini but divert it to serve the Wandsworth Riverside development in both directions. A map detailing this change can be seen below (please click on the map to see a larger version)

If you have any questions about these changes to our planned implementation on 26 March 2023 then please use the Questions tool below. This engagement will close on 28 February 2023.

Why are we making these changes?

These changes bring an area of new development closer to the bus network and improves accessibility and connectivity for residents.

We will keep these changes under review to ensure we continue to offer the best service we can. For more information on these and other service changes, visit our bus changes page.
