Update 27 September 2023

We have today published an update on the temporary changes we made to Cycleway Superhighway 7 in the summer of 2020, as an emergency response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

We believe that the right way forward is:

  • In the coming weeks, we are introducing a new Traffic Order for the CS7 scheme
  • Early next year, we will begin to make some further improvements to the scheme. As much as possible, these have been designed to address issues raised by local people while also maintaining the benefits of the scheme to cyclists, pedestrians and bus passengers
  • Once these changes have been made, we will begin a second phase of work to make more extensive improvements
  • Once the second phase of changes are complete, we will hold a consultation with local people and other stakeholders. The purpose of the consultation would be to give you opportunity to tell us about your experiences of the scheme, and specifically if it causes issues for your day-to-day travel that we might address

Our update expands on this with more detail.
