  • Share I live in the Picketts Lock area, residents here have never had the option of a direct bus route serving both Edmonton Green and Tottenham Hale. Services currently require choosing one destination or making interchanges, which adds time and inconvenience. A direct route linking Picketts Lock with Edmonton Green, Tottenham Hale and Meridian Water would significantly improve connectivity and accessibility for local residents. These locations are key transport and service hubs, and a single, continuous route would better reflect actual travel needs.I would like to ask whether the feasibility of introducing such a direct service has been assessed. If so, I would appreciate clarification on the findings and the reasons this option has not been pursued. If not, I request that this option be considered as part of the consultation outcomes. on Facebook Share I live in the Picketts Lock area, residents here have never had the option of a direct bus route serving both Edmonton Green and Tottenham Hale. Thank you for your question.

While we have assessed a range of options, a single long route linking all these hubs has not been taken forward; such a route would be indirect and costly to run.

Our approach instead focuses on providing strong, reliable, financially sustainable links which would connect Meridian Water to local centres and opportunities for interchange. The proposed changes to route 192 and route W8 ensure adequate capacity would be provided for trips generated by the new development without the need to introduce an entirely new route, while also providing adequate capacity in the Pickett’s Lock and Bounces Road area.

Pickett’s Lock would maintain connectivity to Edmonton Green via high frequency route 192, where there are opportunities for interchange with the Weaver Line and several other bus routes, serving destinations including Meridian Water and Tottenham Hale.

Is route 192 limited to single deck operation because of low bridges?

    Thank you for your question.

Route 192 is not restricted to single‑deck buses because of low bridges. There are no low‑bridge constraints on the parts of the 192 where double‑deck buses could not safely operate.

The reason the 192 currently runs with single‑deck buses is mainly due to passenger demand and operational considerations; single‑deckers can be more suitable for certain streets because of parking, turning space and bus stand arrangements, even when bridge heights aren’t an issue.

Thank you for your question. There are no current plans to install fixed stops on Montagu Road. Route W8 would operate on a hail-and-ride basis in this section.

Yes. Route 192 is planned to remain a single‑decker service.

There are no current plans to install fixed bus stops on Montagu Road. This section of the network will continue to operate on a hail-and-ride basis.
