Why are you changing these bus routes?

We’re making changes to better serve the new Meridian Water development, which will bring thousands of new homes, shops, and a school to the area. Without these changes, parts of the site would be more than 400 metres from the nearest bus stop. The proposals aim to ensure new residents have good access to public transport from day one, and that surrounding areas can access the site for leisure and work.

Will I still be able to get to Tottenham Hale?

Yes. Route W8 will be restructured to run to Tottenham Hale Station, and Edmonton Green Bus Station will continue to be served by both W8 and 192, allowing easy interchange. Some passengers may need to change buses to complete journeys that were previously direct.

Are any journeys being broken by these changes?

Yes. Some passengers will need to change buses to complete their journeys. For example:

    • Route 192 would no longer run to Tottenham Hale
    • Route W8 would no longer run to Pickett’s Lock
    • Route 444 would no longer serve bus stops H and J on the North Circular (Ravenside and Eley Trading estates)
    • Route 341 would no longer run to Meridian Water, terminating at Northumberland Park instead

TfL has planned same-stop or close interchanges, and will provide maps, signage, and travel mentoring to help passengers adjust.

Will any areas lose bus service?

No areas will be left without service, but some stops will be served by different routes (see the next FAQ for more details of stop changes) or at slightly different frequency. For example, Pickett’s Lock Centre will be served by route 192 at 6 buses per hour instead of 7.5.

What support is available for people who find it harder to change buses?

    TfL will offer:

    • Countdown timers at key interchange stops
    • Accessible maps showing walking routes and crossings
    • Easy Read and BSL materials for those who need them

Will the new routes be step-free and accessible?

Yes. All buses are low-floor and accessible. New stops within Meridian Water will be designed with accessibility in mind, including shelters, seating, lighting, and clear signage.

    How were these proposals developed?

TfL worked closely with Enfield Council and reviewed passenger data, local development plans, and feedback from previous engagement. The proposals aim to balance efficiency, demand, and inclusivity.

    When will the changes happen?

It’s expected that changes to the bus network would be introduced in 2027. However, this implementation date is contingent on the consultation outcome, the completion of new infrastructure (roads, bus stops etc.), and the occupation of new homes in Meridian Water. The introduction of different route changes may occur on separate dates.
