Welcome to our Transport for London’s Traffic Orders Page
What is a Traffic Order?
TROs are used to facilitate the movement of traffic across our network, to remove danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or to prevent the likelihood of any such danger arising, to enable work to be undertaken for the maintenance of the highway and the utility infrastructure, to implement parking controls and restrict traffic for the purposes of events.
Why do we consult on Traffic Orders?
In accordance with the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (RTRA), that governs the requirements for temporary, experimental or permanent orders, TfL are required to consult with stakeholders who may be impacted by their proposals. In compliance with RTRA and The Local Authorities' Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996), it requires to publishing a notice in a local newspaper circulating in the area
Through publishing our Traffic Order on our website, we aim to expand on our consultation requirement and capture all digital users’ awareness of our scheme and projects, giving easier access to our documents.
How can I provide feedback on a Traffic Order?
Each document gives clear instructions of how to contact or make representation to our traffic orders, including the applicable timescales for responding. All objections and other representations to the proposed Orders must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which they are made. Objections and representations must be sent to Transport for London, Streets Traffic Order Team, Palestra, 197 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NJ or by emailing trafficordersection@tfl.gov.uk. You should ensure that you quote the specific reference number you are responding to in your email which is contained in the Notices to the host order.
