The world is your Oyster!

Our Youth Panel is our platform for you to be a voice for young people and your communities who travel in London.

And we're looking for passionate young advocates to join TfL’s Youth Panel and help ensure we’re creating a city where young people can thrive and prosper.

More than 30% of London's population is under 25 years old, so it’s essential that TfL delivers for you and your community, no matter your background.

If you’re aged 16-25, we want to work with you to amplify the voices of young people and to develop your skills, confidence and network.

We recognise how important it is that our panel truly reflects London, so we’re particularly keen to hear from disabled Londoners, young women, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, people from lower-income backgrounds, and people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds.

No experience is needed, you just need to showcase an interest in advocating for your community!

As a Youth Panel member, you can expect to

  • Be a champion for young people and your community - and spotlight the issues that really matter to you and them!
  • Collaborate with our teams to come up with innovative solutions for London, while developing your knowledge of how TfL works and shapes London
  • Use TfL’s resources to grow your confidence in teamworking, speaking, debating, presenting and problem solving, in an informal and fun environment
  • Represent TfL at events and meet other like-minded people from all across TfL and London
  • Gain valuable skills to add to your CV!

Projects we have worked on include

  • Encouraging young people and diverse communities to walk and cycle around London
  • Shaping TfL’s social media strategy
  • Brainstorming solutions to social issues that impacts transport like the cost-of-living crisis
  • Developing a research project and report on how we can improve the sustainability of our transport network
  • Consulting on our new Superloop bus network in outer London
  • Helping improve our Travel For Life education programmes at schools in London

What does membership of the Youth Panel entail?

  • We meet every two months in-person at TfL’s offices on a Wednesday evening. Each meeting involves workshops on different TfL projects
  • We encourage our members to be able to come to every meeting (where possible). TfL will cover your travel expenses and provide catering for each Youth Panel meeting
  • We frequently have opportunities to get involved with different project and events - such as user-testing, speaking opportunities and networking - hosted by TfL or other London-based organisations
  • And we arrange fun and informal events for members to take part in, for example riding the IFS cable car or visiting the London Transport Museum
  • Youth Panel membership has a minimum term of one year or a maximum term of three years

How can I apply?

  • You can apply by filling out the form below! Applications close at 23:59 on Monday 30 June 2025
  • Successful candidates will be invited to interview across July, and questions will be sent to interviewees in advance. We will conduct interview in a relaxed, informal manner
  • Your application doesn’t need to prove any skills or qualifications, you just need to demonstrate a passion for how TfL shapes London and being a voice for your community

If you have any questions, comments, or feedback, please email YouthPanel@tfl.gov.uk.
