Consultation has concluded
We are now able to publish our report on the outcomes of our public consultation on proposals to no longer run the 605 bus service.

Proposal
We are proposing to no longer run school bus service route 605. It currently provides one journey in the morning and one journey in the afternoon, running between Burnt Oak Station and Totteridge & Whetstone station. It primarily serves Mill Hill County High School.
We keep all our bus services under regular review to ensure that we are providing services where there is demand for them. Passenger data and recent on-bus surveys found that the 605 is not well used.
A survey carried out in November 2024 showed that only 23 people used the morning service and 19 people used the afternoon service.
The 605 route is largely also served by route 251, except the sections around Marsh Lane for the morning journey and Hammers Lane for the afternoon journey. Our surveys showed that the majority of customers currently travelling on the 605 service would be able to complete their journey using route 251.
We are therefore proposing to withdraw the 605 in order to reduce excess capacity on the bus network and allow us to reallocate our resources to areas where there is greater demand.
Our surveys show that the majority of customers who use the 605 can complete their journey using route 251.
However, for a small number of people, withdrawing the 605 would mean they may have to walk for a further ten minutes to access locations around Marsh Lane and Hammers Lane.
This means that some people may have a longer journey to reach their destination.
After we’ve considered all comments, the EqIA will be reviewed and may be updated. We use the EqIA to help us decide if, and how, we should proceed with these proposals.
A BSL conversation service. This allows the TfL consultation lead to have a two-way BSL translated discussion with a BSL user. To request a BSL conversation please contact us at haveyoursay@tfl.gov.uk and we will be in contact to arrange a convenient time

Having considered the feedback we received along with information about passenger numbers, we have decided to proceed with our proposal and the 605 will no longer run after the end of the current school year. It will run as normal until the end of July 2025.
