Changes for pedestrians and bus passengers on Earls Court Road

The Earls Court Road consultation has concluded.

Thank you to those who took part.

We are now considering the feedback we received and aim to decide on whether or not to proceed, and to respond to issues raised during the consultation period, by the end of 2021.

Overview

We’re planning to make some changes to sections of Earls Court Road. Our changes would help buses to serve bus stops and help passengers to board and alight more easily. The changes would also provide more space for pedestrians, making Earls Court Road a more pleasant place to be.

We want to know your thoughts about our proposals and we’re holding a five week consultation on them. You can reply by following the link to the survey below.

Under the ‘Documents’ section on the right-hand side of the page, there are two maps; an overview map and a layout map detailing the proposed changes, as well as documents explaining what we are proposing for Earls Court Road and why.

The purpose of this scheme

In May 2020, we made some temporary changes to Earls Court Road as an emergency response to the coronavirus.

These changes included extending the pavement with temporary blue barriers along some sections to provide extra space for pedestrians, most particularly close to Earl's Court station and at several popular local businesses, so that people had more room to safely social distance.

The temporary pavement extensions have since been removed but two temporary build outs at bus stops A and K remain.

We recently reviewed the remaining temporary changes and believe that they should be retained permanently, but we want to know your thoughts before making a decision.

We’ve included more information about our review of the changes in the ‘Documents’ section.

The closing date for comments is 24 September 2021. You can reply by completing the survey below, although you’ll need to register an email address with us to do so. You can reply alternatively or by email or to our freepost address. Details are below.

Information to help you respond

There is additional information in the ‘Documents’ section of this page. This information explains in more detail:

Once we have reviewed and considered all of the responses we receive to the consultation, we will make a decision about how best to proceed. We will publish a Consultation Report to set out our findings and our decision, and we will contact everyone who replies to the consultation to tell them our decision.
