We have now published our consultation report, which includes a decision as to how we will proceed with the proposed change to bus route 319, and our response to the key issues raised during consultation.

Proposals
We are proposing to permanently withdraw the presently suspended weekend-only night service on bus route 319.
It ran on the same routeing as the day service on route 319, between Streatham Hill, Telford Avenue and Sloane Square Station via Tooting Bec Station.

Why?
London’s bus network is our most affordable, accessible, and available form of public transport and offers the main sustainable alternative to cars for those journeys that cannot easily be walked or cycled. It is also London’s most flexible mode of public transport.
We continuously review and adapt the bus network to reflect changing customer needs. This includes proposing changes to existing bus routes, so services operate in areas where our customers need them most.

Why we propose to withdraw the weekend only night bus service part of route 319
- Night Tube services were suspended in March 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Weekend-only night bus routes were also suspended, including the service on route 319
- We are proposing to permanently withdraw the weekend-only night bus route because there was limited usage on the route before the pandemic and this number of passengers would not justify its reintroduction; withdrawing the route will help ensure that resources are available in areas where they are needed more
- The weekend only night bus service on route 319 was suspended in March 2020 when Night Tube services ceased at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The route has remained suspended and as such its permanent withdrawal would not impact any existing passengers
How it impacts you
- We have conducted an Equality Impact Assessment on this proposal and it has highlighted that no passengers would be negatively impacted by this proposal, as the weekend-only night bus service on route 319 has not operated since March 2020 and as such has no existing passengers
- There is a comprehensive existing night bus network, as well as Night Tube to help people make journeys at night in this area
- The night bus network is extensive in inner South West London. Night services on routes 57, 159, N109, N133 and N250 serve the same roads as route 319 between Streatham Hill (Telford Avenue) and Tooting Bec Gardens
- A number of night services also run on the same roads as the 319 between Northcote Road and Sloane Square, including:
- N11 between Sloane Square and Beaufort Street
- N19 between Sloane Square and Battersea Park Road
- N22 between Sloane Square and Beaufort Street
- N31 between Kings Road and Battersea Park Road
- 24-hour routes 35 and 37 on Northcote Road between St. John’s Hill (A3036) and Battersea Rise (A205)
- N137 provides a connection between Sloane Square and Streatham Hill, but follows a different routeing to the N31
- Night Tube serves Tooting Bec Station on the Northern Line
With the Mayor’s Hopper fare, adult rate pay as you go fares on buses and trams gives you unlimited journeys for £1.75, made within one hour of touching in. Hopper fare also applies to discounted rate travel.

Update 16 May 2025
Between 13 January 2025 and 23 February 2025, we held a public consultation on proposals to make changes to the suspended weekend only night bus service for route 319.
Under the proposals the following changes were suggested for this bus route:
- Permanently withdraw the weekend only night bus route 319 over the entirety of the route between Sloane Square and Streatham Hill
We have now published our report on the outcomes of the consultation, which you can also view in the Documents section of this webpage..
We received 112 responses to the consultation. Our responses to the main issues raised during the consultation is included in Appendix A of the report.
After fully considering the consultation responses, we have decided to proceed with the scheme as consulted upon.
