By clicking on each of the buttons below, you can read more about what is proposed and how this may impact you. You can also view maps, ask questions, give feedback, and find out about other ways to get in touch and take part.
You have until 23 February 2026 to give us your feedback.
Proposals
Meridian Water is being transformed into a new community within Edmonton, providing new homes, employment, services and infrastructure. The first new homes were delivered in 2024, and more are currently under construction. Our proposals aim to ensure that public transport keeps pace with this growth and that new residents and businesses are well served.

Route 476
We are proposing the extension of route 476 from Northumberland Park to Meridian Water, Harbet Road. This extension would provide a direct link between Meridian Water and Tottenham and Central London, supporting new residents and businesses. The extension is relatively short and can be accommodated without compromising reliability, as the route’s overall length and operational performance remain within acceptable limits.
Route 341
We are proposing the shortening of route 341 to terminate at Northumberland Park. Extending this route into Meridian Water would significantly increase its length, making it harder to run reliably given its existing journey time and traffic conditions. By extending route 476 instead, we can provide similar connections while maintaining a dependable service across the network. A new route, N341, would replace the existing night service on route 341, continuing to provide night time access between Waterloo and Meridian Water.
Route 444
We are proposing the restructuring of route 444 to run via new roads and bus stops within the Meridian Water site. This change would bring buses directly into the heart of the development, improving access to homes, shops and schools.
Route W8
We are proposing the restructuring of route W8 to run between Chase Farm Hospital and Tottenham Hale Station via Meridian Water. This would provide a direct link to healthcare and transport hubs, while serving the new development. Route W8 uses double-deck buses, helping to ensure that sufficient capacity would be provided for the new development.
A new bus-only road will run east to west through Meridian Water, with new stops planned. These proposals have been developed in partnership with LB Enfield to meet the specific needs of the area.
Route 192
We are proposing the restructuring of route 192 to operate between Enfield (Little Park Gardens) and Pickett’s Lock Centre. The proposed change to route W8 would replace route 192 between Edmonton Green and Tottenham Hale with a higher frequency of service and double deck buses to increase capacity to accommodate growing demand in the area. The change to route 192 would provide a new connection to the Pickett’s Lock area.
Why?
Meridian Water is being transformed into a new community within Edmonton, providing new homes, employment, services, and infrastructure. The first new homes were delivered in 2024, and more are currently under construction. Our proposals aim to ensure that public transport keeps pace with this growth and that new residents and businesses are well served.
You can read more about Meridian Water here.
Currently, several bus routes run near the site, but parts of Meridian Water will be more than 400 metres from the existing bus network. Without changes, many new homes and amenities would be poorly served by public transport, limiting access to jobs, education, healthcare and leisure.
We’ve worked closely with Enfield Council to develop proposals that provide direct bus links into the heart of the development, connect Meridian Water to Tottenham Hale, Northumberland Park, Edmonton Green, Enfield Town, and other key destinations. The plans would help to ensure the bus network supports modal shift away from car use and respond to local demand and future growth.
We’ve also reviewed how existing services are used and identified opportunities to improve efficiency and better match capacity to demand. For example, W8 could be restructured to serve Meridian Water without the need to increase frequencies.
These proposals aim to ensure that new and existing residents have access to a comprehensive, reliable and inclusive bus network.
How it impacts you
Our intention is that these proposals will provide improved access to new homes, shops, services and amenities in Meridian Water, better connections to rail and Underground services at Tottenham Hale, Northumberland Park and Silver Street, and a new night route (N341) retaining a service at night between Meridian Water and Central London.
Potential concerns and mitigations include:
- Some passengers having to change buses to complete their journey on route 341. Interchange with route 476 will be available at several points, including Bruce Grove Station, allowing people to finish their trips efficiently.
- Stops on the North Circular would no longer be serviced by route 444. Alternative routes (34 and SL1) will continue to serve those stops. Some passengers may need to walk approximately 250m to interchange.
- Some passengers need to change between buses to complete journeys that use the 192. Passengers would be able to interchange at Edmonton Green Bus Station to complete their onward journeys.
- Passengers using the W8 may need to walk a short distance (e.g. from Bounces Road to Pickett’s Lock Lane) to reach a stop served by the revised route 192. Interchange between routes would also be available in Edmonton Green Bus Station.
We’re working to reduce impacts by ensuring same-stop or close interchange is available to help you complete your journeys, introducing new bus stops to improve access and safety, and providing journey planning tools to help you adjust to changes.
We have completed an initial Equalities Impact Assessment (EqIA) which sets out the expected impacts on different groups of people.
